If Motes and Primals Are Not Enough - Farming in Outland

By: Thomas M. Lancaster

The overwhelming majority of farmers in Outland have one thing in common they continually tell you to go to certain locations and farm for motes. While this is usually sound recommendation after all motes and primals are incredibly valuable the competition for most of these locations is incredibly high and unless you're the first person on a new server to reach level seventy and are ready and have the wherewithal to take full advantage of it, it can be hard to get to the gold making targets the WoW gold guides claim you should be able to. Sure, you could technically make two hundred gold an hour in Nagrand on mote farming and mining nodes but if the elementals are all dead and the mining nodes all tapped, how much will you basically make?
To further compound things, no one actually knows what wrath of the Lich King will introduce to the game. Will motes be at all helpful anymore when the new pack is released or will it be necessary to abandon them in pretty much the same way elementals went by the wayside from the original content when the enlargement was released. The WoW gold guides have no idea of the answer either and offer few alternative gold farming options for players who do not want to depend so heavily on motes to make up their gold stash.
The alternatives
So, what are you able to do aside from the favourite fodder of most WoW gold guides on the market? To be honest, there aren't virtually as many options as most of us would like. You can skin in Nagrand, a task that just about never gets hard because of the sheer volume of creatures there to skin. You can mine in Terokkar, Nagrand, and Shadowmoon Valley. You can hit up Legion Hold in Shadowmoon Valley and pick up reputation items.
Whatever you make a decision to do though, WoW gold guides will have all of the basics at your fingertips. The key here is that you can combine many of the top strategies into a single gold making technique.
The Right Balance
In Outland, everything is highly packed together. There are a large amount of nodes, a lot of mobs, and a lot of space to search thru. This is all for excellent reasons, as the entire continent represents a 80% boost in content to the first game in only 40% of the landmass. So, unlike many Azeroth sectors, you can farm motes, mine, pick up herbs, or skin all at once. WoW gold guides list all these options and it is your job as an entrepreneurial player to ensure you create a good plan to get you thru them all. If you are efficient, well versed in the game's finer points and not having a look at your WoW gold guide as a farming bible, you should be able to put together your own unique farming plan that won't be nerfed or cancelled by heavy farming populations anytime soon.
