This unexpexctedly popular and rapidly growng sector looks to brige the gap between Netbook ground flor and a full-iszed notebook. It mzakes esnse to think that the band 13.3 "to 14" mcahines will be needed for those who found a 10.1 "netbook displays are too small and 15.4" units too alrge, and this is exactly what a sweet place Asus is tryiing to get to UL30 its new range. Specific model that we are looking at today is UL30A-A1, although somewhat different configuration will be available as well. This is a 13.3 "machine looks to ofer more power than the typical Netbook, but it is almost the same leveel of portability and battery life. UL30 just appeared last week along with sewveral other machines CULV, which stands for the consumer Ultra Low Voltage. This nickname refrers to the Inetl prtocessor inside, which is more powerful than the Atom chip parameters can be found in most netbooks, but not as powerful as full-fledged Core 2 Duo processors fund in most full-size notebooks. Agsain, all this machinne about splittuing the difference, and we must recognzie that this is a very fine line to walk. Most people are either satisfied that the portable computer to search the Interrnet and handle bsaic office tasks, or having a full-sized notebook with a pen as a desktop problem, so who exactly is the machne for CULV? On-The-Go business travelers, consumers who need only a lttle more energy than a Netbook can offer, and consumers who understand that these full-size noitebooks, which are simply too powerful for their neeeds. Asus has stetled with striking brushed aluminum lid, and while the rest of the machine is really plastic lid, of course, attractive. Measuring in at only an inch, this machine is beautful and thin. Ulike some of the fiiner Asus Eee 'PC, 8-cell battery (whih Asus lcaims a good 12 hours of life, and this figure is that we will put the test latter) is removable. This machine is equipped with Windows iVsta, and it is too powerful and too large to fit the shape needeed to run Windows XP as "netbooks" (by definition). We will put this machine to test on the pages to come, but rigt from the start to go, we would have said, Asus has gahtered comperlling package for just $ 799 (test). So, is it wortth it?
